Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our services, capabilities and processes.

This varies depending upon the service you require from us and how you wish to manage your costs.

Typically, the higher volume the more cost effective, however this is not always the case and does depend on the complexity of the job.

As designers and manufacturers of bespoke solutions, we have the flexibility and agility to work with our customers to suit their requirements.

This is why it’s very hard to give a definitive answer but why it’s always worth talking to us so we can see how we can assist.

With a wide machinery portfolio, different jobs require different machines to make it happen and this is why our lead times are different for each job.

Similarly, for jobs that require unusual board grades, the lead time may be longer if the order is placed and delivery expected in a short time scale.

However, with the manufacturing support of our sister site, Boxes and Packaging (Dumbarton) some of our most popular machines and their capabilities are duplicated giving us superior manufacturing agility.

Our proximity to our key board supplier, Board24 at Eurocentral, is also advantageous to our customers and the delivery times we quote to them.

We do! Moreover, we believe we offer one of the best design services in Scotland for corrugated packaging solutions.

Our team has decades of experience in creating the full range of corrugated packaging from designs based on standard FEFCO codes to the most innovative solutions designed to meet customer briefs, solve challenges and ensure products stand out in their respective marketplaces.

The team understand corrugated, how it can be used to its full potential and how its strength, durability and flexibility can be advantageously used to benefit customers.

Additionally, the team support customers sustainability and ESG goals by designing solutions that replace hard-to-recyclable materials in their supply chains.

Boxshop is based in South Lanarkshire and our sister site in Dumbarton, both in central Scotland, with great transport links to the M8 and M74.

We operate our own Euro 6 fleet and supply our corrugated packaging solutions to customers across Scotland, including Highlands and Islands, the Borders and Northern England and Northern and Republic of Ireland.

One of the biggest advantages we have is being part of the largest independent corrugated packaging group in the UK, Logson Group. This enables us to call on the resources and manufacturing capabilities of our group companies, giving our customers a level of service and agility that is superior to that of our competitors.

If you require corrugated packaging, we’ll find a way to get it to you!

We can, indeed this is one of our greatest capabilities. Whilst we have a busy case making operation which suits our customers who require standard regular slotted cases with up to three colour print and in high volumes, our bespoke service is why many customers choose Boxshop to be their preferred packaging partner.

With an experienced, innovative and hugely capable design team backed up by the latest software and CAD tables, the design possibilities are endless.

Furthermore, a full sampling service for new customers or new products is followed to ensure the design is fit for purpose. We also offer a range of testing for new designs to ensure reliability and performance and also legislative compliance for the packaging of dangerous or hazardous goods where required.

We are happy to offer stock and serve to customers depending upon their requirements.

To ensure we can fulfil customer requirements, a full consultation always takes place for new customers, and stock and delivery necessities are always discussed during this process to ensure full understanding.

For our stock and serve customers, a detailed service level agreement is outlined and agreed by both parties, determining things like required stock levels for all items, time between call off and delivery, delivery schedules and minimum stock values based on historic data.

It’s a system that brings several benefits for some customers, especially those who have limited space to hold their own stock, or have several lines where usage is fluid and unpredictable.

We are very proud to hold a number of certifications which we work to on a daily and continuous basis.

We have BRCGS Packaging AA accreditation, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, FSC, Sedex Registration and Cyber Essentials.

These certifications demonstrate our commitment to being a responsible business and helping to support our customers meet their own requirements when choosing supply chain partners.

Copies of our certificates can be provided upon request.

A full portfolio of print capabilities allows us to design and manufacture corrugated packaging solutions to suit all customers exact requirements.

Our casemakers can print up to three colours making them ideal for RSC styles, required in high volumes, whilst our YSF and TCY printer rotary diecutters offer print solutions from one to four colours.

Finally, our BOBST Expertflex High Quality Post Print (HQPP) printer is capable of producing up to six colours with very tight register. It also successfully prints less detailed prints but all with the clearest of registration, accuracy, definition and depth of colour.

We offer a wide range of corrugated board grades across single and double wall and speciality board grades as well.

Single wall is where the fluting profile is sandwiched between an outer and inner liner, double wall is where two fluting profiles are sandwich between and inner and two outer liners. The type of fluting profile is the key factor when determining the strength of the board, however inner and outer liners also play their part in strength and print finishes of the board.

We source most of our board grades from our sister company, Board24, from its Eurocentral plant just 14 miles away and home to the newest corrugator in the UK. However, we also have robust supplier agreements with other board suppliers to ensure supply is consistent and reliable to support our manufacturing processes.

Corrugated packaging ticks all the sustainability boxes because of the raw materials used in the manufacturing process.

Corrugated board is typically made from at least 75% recycled material and is 100% recyclable through both commercial and domestic channels. This recycling is key to the industry so that recycled fibres can be used in the corrugated board manufacturing process.

Businesses continue to discover how versatile corrugated board can be, and when designed by industry leading experts such as our design team, an amazing array of solutions can be created removing hard to recycle materials from the supply chain and solutions which stand out for reliability, eye-catching designs or print, or simply exceeding customer expectations.
