Retail packaging made easy

10 Mar 2026

One of the most common solutions we get asked for is for packaging solutions to be used in retail environments.

There are several types of retail ready packaging made from corrugated board, each designed to meet specific requirements within the retail environment.

The most common include shelf-ready packaging, which allows products to be easily placed onto shelves without additional handling; display packaging, often used for promotional items and designed to attract attention, and transit-ready packaging, which combines protection for shipping with ease of unpacking for store staff.

Let’s take a look at each one in more detail

Shelf ready packaging

Shelf Ready Packaging (SRP) is a term used to describe a packaging solution that has product stacked in it at the point of manufacture. This is shipped to the retailer and often an outer sleeve or a perforated section is removed to allow the product to be accessed by the consumer of a shelf.

It is quick and easy for retailers to replenish stock, allows branding to be communicated to the consumer and allows them to make instore selections with ease.

Display packaging

Display packaging covers a range of solutions such as countertop bins, free standing display units (FSDU) and dump bins.
These solutions are strategically placed in retail outlets to encourage consumers to make spur of the moment or impulse purchases.

They are suited to a wide variety of products and are ideally suited to eye-catching print representing brands and communicating information to customers.

Transit Packaging

Almost all products will require some sort of outer packaging to transfer products from point of manufacture to the retail situation and more often than not through a warehouse or distribution centre.

This type of retail packaging needs to protect the products within, withstand handling through the supply chain and be robust enough to allow products to be safely stored.

Considerations for customers

When selecting corrugated retail packaging, customers have certain factors to consider, all of which we help them with.
Strength and durability – We consider product weight, shipping and supply chain requirements and how the product will get from manufacturing to its final destination.

Brand and promotion – We explore opportunities to communicate the brand, product information and enhance the consumer experience.

Practical and sustainable – We understand how the product will be packed, how it will be accessed by the customer and how the packaging will be recycled.

Choosing corrugated brings so many opportunities for brands and businesses to ensure their packaging truly supports their business operations in a sustainable and practical way.

By having a packaging partner that integrates with a businesses retail packaging strategy success can be easily achieved and packaging products designed and manufactured that add value in every way.
