Boxshop designer celebrates 25 years in industry

Corrugated packaging design is a pretty niche career, and one of our designers is celebrating 25 years’ doing just that!

David Hotchkiss began his career at Danisco Pack as a trainee designer, and in the first ten years of his career gained further experience by making moves to Mondi Packaging and Merlin Packaging respectively.

For the last fifteen years David has been part of the design team at Boxshop where he has continued to shape his own career, and those of new and trainee designers as the team has grown.

Jennifer Riddell, Managing Director commented; “David is a highly experienced packaging designer; there’s not much about corrugated and its design capabilities that he doesn’t know! He’s a great asset to our team and I look forward to him being part of it for many years to come.”

David plays an instrumental role in the design and development of custom packaging for a diverse range of clients. In addition to creating new designs, David is also adept at improving existing designs that new clients have, to maximise packaging performance, material efficiencies and enhance recyclability if other hard-to-recycle materials have been used in addition to corrugated.

“Working in packaging design is ever-changing and with such a wide range of clients there is always a new project to be working on,” said David. “Thanks to Team Boxshop and customers for their good wishes, I’m not really sure where the last 25 years have gone!”
